Going on Retreat

Me-Ommmmm Efurrybuddy! As a great Swami and Yogicat I have committed myself to a life of constant practice and selfless service. Me, Mama, and Brofur Ku have been working furry furry hard to promote my book and Ku's book to raise awareness and money fur animal rescue.

We thank those who have bought my book and who have tweeted, re-blogged, etc.!!! However, sales are almost nil and we must turn our attention to other ways of spreading the word. We have also told Mama that she could spend more time building her animal healing and her spiritual counseling practices (Astrology and Tarot/Oracle Readings - she is furry furry good!), which she juggles around caring fur the Grandma who has Alzheimer’s.

However, do not worry about Me, for I will of course continue on as the great Shri Swami Sattvapurrrrrananda and be on an intensive Yoga Retreat! Me-Ommmmm

  1. Oh that is sad. **hug** But we understand that your Mum has to do what's best for all of you. Don't feel discouraged though, sometimes you just have to see where life takes you.

  2. My human and I are both authors, Swami Zoe, and we totally know where you are coming from! Being an author is hard work and not always financially rewarding. My human has taken bunches of marketing courses trying to figure out what works... of course, only time will tell with the next projects she has coming up! If you would like to contact us privately, you can send me a message through the contact link on my blog (you can find it on the bottom of any page on my blog).

  5. Making a living as a writer is very hard going! Even writers under contract with traditional publishers struggle, but making it on your own is harder still. We're purring for you and and know that your mom will take good care of you no matter what.

  7. Making sure you're taken care of and have food to eat is very important, so we understand. We wish your mom all the best as she tries to do what is best for her and you.

    1. Thank you Molly. Mama here. I've given the pet book promotion a good 6 months, with shout outs and book reviews by pet blogger, only to get a sale of two. I have learned a tremendous amount about the self-publishing and marketing world, especially all that does not work. Time to set this effort aside and focus on my main book projects that will be good candidates for publishing companies. Thank you again for the offer.

  9. these things take time, but maybe a job is a good idea and just have the books as a side line like I do with my cards, that way you still get to do the stuff you love too,xx Rachel

    1. Hi Speedy, Mama here. Thank you, yes, I have done some freelance work and have been applying to many jobs, but my schedule is also very limited (i.e. can only mostly work from home and/or on a very varied schedule) until my mother is put into a home, or I just up and leave because I feel too stuck. I moved here about 1.5 years ago, and prior to that had a very successful healing practice and a beautiful home and garden/farm. However I needed sunshine, hence the move, but unfortunately here I have been limited by my living situation. The pet books, etc. are a side thing, but they have taken up an enormous amount of time (though I have learned a lot about being my own publishing company and all that does not work.) I have bigger more important book projects, etc. that I am working on too that will be better candidates for publishers. If you want to see what I really do, please visit my main blog: http://juliannevictoria.com

  10. We empathize totally. Our Mommy is applying for computer jobs. She was laid off last year and told Daddy that she would spend a year trying to get their canning business off the ground, but alas, the bills are high and there is not furry much money in Jelly, Daddy is off on long term disability As wes lives in the middle of nowhere, there is not much work. so it is Mommy who must leave to goes to work. Cross your fingers for us, Mommy has a interview on Wednesday.
    Wes will purray for yous!
    kisses

  12. We are sorry things aren't going so well. We know how you feel, our mom feels a lot like that too, being a single mom with no child support. It isn't fun when money is tight, and the economy is so bad, no matter what the politicians would like you to believe. We are sending your positive purrs. It's a great thing you are doing, caring for your mom. That must be stressful as well. Hugs & kitty kisses.

  16. If it's any consolation, I spent months doing a book proposal last year for a similar book, and more months waiting while my agent pitched it to editors only to have one rejection after another. I learned a lot, switched gears and now working on new projects. I review publicist sent cat books but have cut back to focus on other writing. As a fellow spiritual seeker, I understand bumps in the road and feel free to email me.
